Winter Pinterest Challenge- Old Spring Bud Vase

It is Pinterest Challenge time again...woohoo.   In honor of the "winter" edition, I decided to go totally opposite and complete a spring like project (yes, that was a pun).  I am crazy like that.  My pinspiration was this glass bud vase made from an old bed spring by Junk Revolution.

My version only required 3 things...

Simply fill the test tubes with water, and place the tubes into the spring.  Move them around until they are balanced.  My spring was plenty strong to support the weight of all three tubes.

A few beautiful flowers, and it certainly feels like spring (sorry, it is just too easy).

Pinterest Challenge: Fall Edition

I enjoyed the summer edition of Young House Love's Pinterest Challenge and Bower Powers Pinterest Challenge so much, that I am back again.  I had lots of great projects pinned that I could use for inspiration. But when I saw this idea for a handmade state ornament, I knew I found the perfect jumping off point.

I had purchased all of these vintage puzzle pieces in the shape of states, and was just waiting for something to do with them.

Christmas tree ornament....well don't mind if I do!  I took a small drill bit and drilled a hole.  This was easy to do, as the puzzle piece is made of wood.  Just make sure you find the "center" of the piece so it hangs evenly.  Then I tied a length of jute through the hole and made a loop.

You can certainly hang it from your tree.  But if you don't celebrate Christmas or are working on this project the other 11 months of the year, hang it from anywhere.

I think it looks cute hanging from the knob of my mid-century china hutch!
So how 'bout you?  Been inspired by Pinterest lately?  Or perhaps you are making something into an ornament?

DIY Chalkboard: Pinterest Challenge

I'm excited to be participating in Young House Love's Pinterest Challenge.  My "pinspiration" was this sweet little chalkboard made by Mark Montano.
