Guest Room: Update

I first shared my guest/ sewing room with you in September of 2011! In the past few weeks, I have made a few small tweaks to the space that I am sharing with you today. In case you need a little reminder, here is what the room has looked like for the last 2 years.

When my living room wall was updated from embroidery hoops to a vintage map, I decided to recycle the hoops in another room.

The craft room certainly seemed like an appropriate place to use fabric as wall decor. And the colors were the perfect compliment.

While the additional patterns and colors really energized the space, it didn't look very good with my already bright and bold curtains. But that is an easy fix. A quick trip to IKEA and $10 in white curtains, and all is right again!

Bedroom Update

After years of sleeping on a full sized bed, we have finally upgraded to a queen. Not only are we enjoying a few more inches of sleeping room, but also it was an excuse to get a new headboard. The existing headboard was too small.....so it was time for an upgrade. It was decided that something upholstered would be comfortable and economical, as we wouldn't have to spring for a whole new bed. However, I was disappointed when searching for the right piece. Everything was so expensive. We considered DIYing a headboard, and upholstering it ourselves (like we did with our previous headboard). But a trip to our local clearance center, saved us a lot of work. We found an upholstered, tufted headboard that was the right size and scale. I also like that if in the future I decide that I want something lighter or in a different pattern, I can easily sew a slip cover for this headboard!
