Organization Idea: Pegboard

A multi-function space requires excellent organization.  Since my craft room also doubles as my guest room, I must ensure that there is adequate storage for all my supplies, and adequate space for guests. Always on the lookout for simple yet smart storage solutions, when I saw a white pegboard for $1, I knew it would be perfect in my craft/ guest room.  Pegboards are great because they provide storage and organization, without taking up square footage.

This wall as you enter the room didn't serve much purpose, so I decided to put the pegboard here.  However, I needed to remember that this was going to be the first thing people saw as they entered the room.  Because this is where my guests stay, I wanted it to still be inviting.

I picked out some of the crafty supplies that I use frequently.  But also considered materials that were colorful and pretty to look at.

Next, I laid everything out to ensure a nice symmetry and that it would all fit.  Because a pegboard is so flexible, there wasn't a lot of pressure to get everything perfect.  It can always be changed as needed.

Anyone else rockin' a new pegboard?

The Best of January

One of my blogging goals for 2013, is to try to organize the blog so it is easier to find projects that you may be looking for.  One way to help with this is to summarize each month's posts.  In January we learned...

Organization Inspiration

I can't believe January is over.  The month flew by.  Are you still going strong and meeting your organizational goals?  I'm batting 500.  My junk drawer underwent a major clean out, and is still looking good over 3 weeks later.  The guest room closet is another story.  This is where I store extra picture frames, art, and other decorative accessories.  I try not to keep too much excess around, but when you change things up as often as I do, it saves a lot of money to have a stockpile to pull from.  I was able to drag everything out of the closet, and was starting to clean when I cut my finger on a piece of glass.  A sign to stop cleaning...I think so!  Perhaps some inspiration will help...

Junk Drawer Organization

Almost half-way through January, and the organization is still going strong.  Usually by this point, I have fallen off the tidy wagon.  So while I was still in the mood, I tackled everyone's organizational nemesis, the junk drawer.

Wrinkle Free Organization

I don't like to iron.  In fact, I haven't ironed clothes for over 2.5 years.  If it is wrinkly, I just don't wear it. Or I throw it in the dryer with a wet towel to remove some wrinkles.  I do own an ironing board. And I do use my ironing board when I am sewing.  I usually just leave it set up, for easy access.  However, there are times when it needs to be put away.  And when those times come, I have a great little tip for where to put it.

Hunting Season

I may or may not have spent 5 hours this weekend at garage sales/ yard sales/ flea markets.  It was well worth it though as I was able to bring home all this loot for $20.

Memo Mirror

I originally purchased this mirror for $15, and loved the chalky white finish, and swirly lines.  I have had it for some time now, and couldn't decide where it should live. I finally decided to hang it in my craft/guest room.
